This week, I was asked if I would consider doing a stone trough. I looked at pictures of various examples on the internet that were in the UK. This is what I came up with.
It came out just a little bigger than intended. The overall dimensions are 39" long x 22" wide x 12" high. There are six 1/2" drain holes in the bottom. It is carved from a single block of Indiana Limestone and weighs about 350 lbs. SOLD!!!

I pinned "Minerva" to a stone base. All of her information is featured in last week's posting (below).

"Watcher of the Sky", "Minerva", "VA Leaf" & "Bluestone Bubbler" by Don Lawler
This sculpture is entitled "Watcher of the Sky". The title was inspired by Arthur C. Clarkes novel "Childhood's End". It shows a Maya priest in an elaborate headdress looking up at the stars. Don and Meg have become fascinated with the degree of accuracy in astronomical knowledge that the ancient Maya possessed - much in advance of the European theories on astronomy at the same time period.
The sculpture is carved from Indiana Limestone, measuring 28" long x 9" wide x 8" thick and weighing approximately 50 lbs. It was finished on March 29, 2010. !!!SOLD!!!
This sculpture is entitled "Minerva", and it shows the goddess in a helmet with the stylized beak and eyes of a bird of prey. It is carved from a single piece of Indiana Limestone, and finished on April 2, 2010. It measures 16" high x 10" wide x 8" thick (the face is lifesize) and weighs approximately 25 lbs. !!!SOLD!!!.
This stylized vessel of a leaf was carved from a piece of Virginia Steatite (soapstone). It was finished on Sept. 8, 2009, measures 16" long x 11" wide x 3" thick and weighs approximately 15 lbs. SOLD!!!
This stylized fountain bubbler of a seed form is carved from Pennsylvania Bluestone. It was finished on Sept. 9, 2009, measures 12" wide x 11" high x 5" thick and weighs approximately 25 lbs. SOLD!!!
